A. About the Division of Internal Medicine
The standing goals of the Division of Internal Medicine remain to be in line with those of our Institute and the Philippine College of Physicians.
It aims to pursue excellence in developing and establishing the highest level of service, training and research. In accordance with the institute’s objective of providing specialized medical service, the division continually strives to strengthen the different subspecialties through the
implementation of specialty-development programs, that are directed at establishing a core staff for each section.
The division provided the services of specialty sections including Infectious Disease, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Neurology, Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Allergology, Oncology, Rehabilitation Medicine and Nuclear Medicine. The Internal Medicine staff also deliver medical support to other departments through the interdepartmental consultation requests
or referrals.
Milestone of the Division:
The Division of Internal Medicine of NKTI was organized last 1987 under NKTI Director Dr. Filoteo Alano and the chairmanship of Dr. Benigno Agbayani. From a handful of active consultant staff and an initial of 2 residents in 1987 it has grown to have trained 183 residents in internal medicine.
Most of the graduates pursued subspecialty training in various fields of Internal Medicine and others sought further training from different countries around the world. The division adheres to its primary vision of becoming a globally recognized department in internal medicine training, research and medical care.
This department vision is in full support of the NKTI vision and mission of becoming a
lead tertiary hospital in renal disease and transplantations. In the succeeding years, the division continues to evolve and improve its training program through innovations in the approach and method of training.

IMPART: I.M. Partners Against Renal Troubles
In celebration of the 36th year of serving with excellence, integrity, and compassion, the National Kidney and Transplant Institute - Division of Internal Medicine is holding its 3rd Post Graduate Conference entitled:
“IMPART: I.M. Partners Against Renal Troubles”
This two-day conference aims to highlight the role of Internal Medicine in the holistic and primary care of patients with kidney disease.
The conference will emphasize on the management of common comorbidities in this special population and accentuate the importance of primary care in these diseases to promote renal health.
A wide array of lectures pertaining to renal health promotion will be discussed by our very own graduates.
These topics will definitely be highly relevant to internists, subspecialists, general practitioners and other allied medical professionals. The Division aims that through these lectures, we can impart knowledge that are useful in the practice of medicine, especially among patients with kidney disease.
